Biography
“What does it look like from there?”
A child’s curiosity to see the world from a different perspective led Greg Allen to treetops, railroad bridges and electrical towers. Bringing his father’s camera enabled Greg to capture these images throughout his high school years and began his informal introduction to photography.
When the yearbook editor approached Greg during his senior year of college, desperately in need of a photographer, he took the job and discovered a new passion.
In six short months he was promoted to public relations photographer and was soon published in most of the local print media. The idea of telling a story in images cemented Greg’s attraction to photojournalism, enabling him to feed both his artistic appetite and story-telling spirit. This newfound hunger led him to Fort Wayne, Indiana, the hub of a new and thriving art community.
Greg’s ability to unfold a story in pictures didn’t go unnoticed, opening doors to the nations best shows and garnering the highest awards in the top 10 national art competitions. His photos have sold internationally and earned him Disney’s designation as a master level photographer.
Wedding Photography
The stories that unfold during a wedding are often told in quick, fleeting glances. The wistful look on a father’s face, a mother's reassuring hug, the reflection of a bright future in the eyes of a groom: these are the images that cradle the personality of a wedding. Greg Allen has earned a reputation for capturing these special moments before they’re gone forever, capturing them in images that you’ll cherish throughout your lives together.
Utilizing modern lighting and posing techniques, Greg’s innovative approach brings an essence of fashion photography to each and every wedding.
Greg offers Engagements and Bridals. Spending over an hour of quality time prior to the wedding day for each, Greg adds a new dimension of personality and intimacy in a relaxed setting without the pressures of the wedding day. The stunning imagery and natural appeal of these photos are the prefect precursor to the actual wedding day photos and help to establish a level of comfort with your photographer.
Personal Endeavors
From the Kenya/Tanzanian border to Serbia, Greg has used his photography to document the plight of the less fortunate. His photos of 1Maasai children capture their hurt, their hope and their happiness and draw the viewer into a mostly unseen world in a very personal way. He has also documented the Serbian efforts to rebuild lives after the fall of socialism in a photographic celebration of rebirth and renewal.
Greg’s current personal work includes capturing images for a book that will focus on the effects of homelessness on children throughout America. You can view some of these images on the 1Personal section of this website.
Art, businesses, children, portraits, weddings: the same passion and child-like curiosity still drives Greg to capture images in unique ways, whatever the location.
As a US citizen and permanent resident of the UK, Greg spends much time traveling internationally. When not on location, he does his best to keep up with his 6, 4 and 3-year old sons (future tower and tree climbers?) and spends quality time with his extended British family.
